Ram Nath Kovind NDA’s Candidate for President
President, The first citizen of India. BJP led NDA government after a good thought process made a clever yet smart decision by naming Ram Nath Kovind as their presidential candidate. Though many political parties are on various new bytes and are claiming it to be a political decision but none of them strongly believe in going against the candidature.
He is the Dalit leader and a member of BJP and he has served as the Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017. And very wisely on 19th June 2017, BJP party president, Amit Shah declared Ram Nath Kovind the candidate to contest for the President of India from NDA. Kovind, is a son of a farmer and is born in Kanpur Dehat District. He was the president of BJP Dalit Morcha between 1998 and 2002 and president of All-India Koli Samaj.
The biggest plus point of all for the political parties to support him as the President Candidature is, that he is being praised for constituting a judicial inquiry or commission to investigate irregularities in promotion of undeserving teachers, mismanagement of funds and appointment of undeserving candidates in universities. As soon as he was nominated for the post of President, he resigned as the Governor of Bihar and the President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee accepted his resignation on 20 June 2017.
Many in the news are considering that his candidature to the post of President of India is being viewed in terms of his caste identity alone. His words from one of the prime English daily quotes as “Maine jaise Swayam safalta paaiyee hain, vaise tum log bhi mehnat karo (just like I achieved success, you should work hard for it)”. These words have been quoted by NDA candidate for President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind to his nephew, which aptly can sum him as a man in question.
